The family of an unarmed man shot by a University of Cincinnati police officer has settled a lawsuit for $5.3 million, according to Buzzfeed News. Samuel Dubose, an unarmed black man, was stopped for a traffic violation on July 19 of last year, and was subsequently shot by the officer who pulled him over. The shooting was captured on a body camera, graphically showing Samuel Dubose’s last moments. Officer Ray Tensing has been indicted for Dubose’s death. The family’s lawyer has expressed content over the settlement and indictment, and hopes this brings about change going forward.
