The family of a deceased immigrant father is suing the contractors and companies that employed him for more than $1 million, according to the Dallas Morning News. 36-year-old Oscar Esparza and two others were working at Dallas’ Thanksgiving Tower when the accident that took their lives occurred. The men were trapped inside the chiller tanks, which were 35 feet deep and about as large as half of a basketball court, where they were working after sparks ignited a fire. All three men died in the accident. An investigation revealed that the permits for the work they were doing had expired, and the contractors and subcontractors permits had also expired. Esparza’s wife and the families of the others killed are now suing those involved.
