A man was crushed to death by an elevator in New York City on New Year’s Eve, according to the Huffington Post. 25-year-old Stephen Hewett-Brown was able to push out a woman after the elevator they were riding in malfunctioned around midnight on New Year’s Eve. He then became pinned between the elevator car and the shaft as he tried to escape. First responders arrived to find unconscious and suffering from severe bodily injuries. Tenants of the building have allegedly made numerous complaints about the state of the elevators, beginning as early as September. The city’s Building Department is investigating the accident.
